His approach of “growing your money with guardrails” aimed to provide knowledge and resources to clients, helping them make well-informed decisions without risks. Our President, Matt Howard, and Senior Advisor Analyst, Tyler Rea, strive to follow Rick’s legacy to help clients achieve a sleep-easy retirement.
Matt Howard
PRESIDENT
After receiving his degree from the University of Arkansas, Matt began his career in the oil and gas industry. As a consultant for an accounting and reorganization firm, Matt gained lengthy experience uncovering the impact of poor financial planning, which showed him the firsthand impact of uninformed financial activities. This experience has inspired him to help others learn how to properly protect, invest, and grow their assets.
Matt understands the value of integrity, hard-work, and dedication. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, coaching his son’s church league baseball and basketball team, bike riding, and spending time at his family’s ranch.
Tyler Rea • CPA
Senior Advisor
Tyler is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a man of faith. He takes a comprehensive approach to financial planning, considering all aspects of his clients’ financial lives and developing tailored solutions to help them achieve their long-term goals.
After graduating from Texas A&M University with his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a Master’s Degree in Finance, he began working as an auditor for Ernst and Young before transitioning to an Accounting Manager in the insurance industry. During his time in this role, he oversaw financial operations and led financial reporting and analysis efforts. From a young age, Tyler had a passion for helping individuals achieve their financial goals. His experience in accounting and finance allows him to develop helpful planning strategies for his clients.
In his free time, Tyler and his wife Lauren spend time with their church community, enjoying nature, rock climbing, cooking, running with their Australian Shepherd, or sharing a meal with their extended family.
Kristin Rucker • MBA
Office Manager
Serving as Office Manager, Kristin embodies Guardian Financial Management’s commitment to excellence. With over a decade of financial industry experience, Kristin is enhancing her knowledge base to further serve our clients. Her dedication to professional growth reflects our firm’s ethos of delivering comprehensive retirement and financial planning services with a focus on diversified, low-risk strategies.
Kristin attended Dallas Baptist University, where she obtained her MBA in Finance and her BA in Management. She then worked for Guidestone Financial Resources as an analyst. More than an area of interest or professional skill, Kristin loves finance because it’s her way of deeply caring for and connecting with individuals by guiding them toward secure futures.
Kristin’s commitment to service and community is seen in her and her husband’s involvement at their local church, where her husband serves as a minister. Her greatest joy is raising her four children. A perfect Saturday begins with cooking breakfast at home, followed by watching her kid’s soccer matches or hiking at State Parks, ending at home with a relaxing evening with her family.
Lauren Rea
Office Manager
Lauren Rea is an Office Manager at Guardian Financial Management and a dedicated Critical Care Nurse at Methodist Richardson. Her professional journey began at Texas A&M University, where she earned a degree in Business and met her husband, Tyler Rea.
With a solid foundation in business, Lauren spent three years in IT and management consulting, honing her skills in strategic planning, project management, and organizational efficiency. Driven by a passion for making a direct impact on people’s lives, she transitioned from the corporate world to nursing. After completing nursing school, she now excels in critical care, where her analytical skills and empathetic approach combine to provide exceptional patient care.
Balancing her time between nursing and her role at Guardian Financial Management, Lauren thrives in her nursing career while also enjoying the opportunity to collaborate with her husband. She leverages her business acumen to streamline operations and help individuals achieve their retirement goals.
In her free time, Lauren cherishes her close church community, tends to her collection of indoor plants, explores the outdoors with her dog, and stays active. She is committed to applying her diverse skills and experiences to tackle various challenges and make a meaningful difference in every endeavor she pursues.
Our Founder: Rick Foster
1951 – 2023
Rick Foster founded Guardian Financial Management more than 20 years ago. His experience as a retirement income specialist and investor advisor representative allowed him to help hundreds of people protect and grow their assets. Rick’s approach to “growing your money with guardrails” helped his clients understand a better way to participate in bull markets without risking their assets. Rick was a Texan and a horseman, a husband to Brenda, a father, a grandfather, and a great-grandfather.
After a brave battle with cancer, we unfortunately lost Rick in 2023. His legacy of integrity, faith, plain talk, and genuine care for the needs of his clients are the animating principles that will always guide Guardian Financial Management.
